DAY 1: Discovering Ancient Damascus
Your Syrian adventure begins today! After a beautiful 3-4 hour drive from Beirut, you’ll arrive in the captivating city of Damascus. Settle into your hotel and take some time to unwind. In the afternoon, we’ll immerse ourselves in the ancient quarters of Damascus, wandering through the historic Christian and Jewish neighborhoods. A highlight will be a visit to the significant Ananias Chapel. Prepare to be charmed by the stunning traditional Damascene houses we’ll encounter along the way. As evening falls, we’ll experience the vibrant energy of the local food street and step back in time at Nofara, arguably Syria’s oldest café. For those looking to delve deeper into Damascus’s nightlife, options abound, from catching a local concert to relaxing in a traditional café or indulging in a soothing bathhouse experience. This first day offers a fantastic introduction to the rich history and culture of Damascus, Syria.
DAY 2: DAMASCUS TOUR – Explore Syria’s History
Start your day with a delicious local breakfast. Then, head to Ghota to witness remnants of the region’s past. Immerse yourself in Syria’s rich cultural history with a visit to the National Museum. Pass by the historic Hijaz railway station before touring the iconic Umayyad Mosque and exploring the vibrant Al-Hamidiyah Souq. Enjoy a traditional lunch featuring local specialties. Wander through ancient caravanserais and beautifully restored homes. Finally, conclude your day with a breathtaking sunset view from a rooftop vantage point.
Day 3: Discover Maaloula, Homs & Aleppo
Journey north to Maaloula, witnessing unique mountain-carved homes and hearing the Aramaic language. Explore the St. Sergius and Bacchus Church. In Homs, visit the Khalid ibn al-Walid Mosque and the Church of Virgin Mary’s Holy Belt, then wander through the charming old market. Your day concludes with arrival in Aleppo for a two-night stay.
Day 4 in Aleppo
Explore the historic Citadel of Aleppo and delve into ancient city life. Visit a unique 800-year-old soap factory, browse artisan treasures in Aleppo’s bustling souks, and discover the Aleppo Museum and a 14th-century neighborhood. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its iconic citadel.
Day 5: Explore Syria’s Highlights – Dead Cities, Hama Waterwheels & Krak des Chevaliers
Today, we journey from Aleppo to discover Syria’s fascinating past. First, we’ll explore the incredible Dead Cities of Serjilla and Bara. Next, we visit Hama, famous for its iconic waterwheels, a true symbol of the city. Our adventure continues to the stunning Krak des Chevaliers, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved Crusader castles in the world. Finally, we’ll unwind in the peaceful village of Mishtaya, close to the lively atmosphere of Marmarita.
Day 6: Palmyra Ancient Ruins Tour
Journey from Damascus to explore Palmyra, the “Bride of the Desert.” See the Temple of Bel and Arch of Triumph. Uncover Palmyra’s ancient trade significance and modern history. Enjoy a Bedouin tent lunch before returning to Damascus. Overnight stay included.
Day 7: Damascus Tour
Discover the stunning Sayyida Ruqiyah shrine with its intricate mosaics. Explore local artisan workshops crafting traditional swords, copper works, and mosaics. Enjoy free time in the afternoon for Damascus shopping and further exploration.
Day 8: Bosra – Departure
